The integration of faith and business clearly distinguishes a 17c������� School of Business education. Faith Schultz ’22 and Jeff Erickson ’22 demonstrate their commitment to living out their Christian faith in business. As a result, they were recently awarded the 2022 Faith at Work Prize from the 17c������� School of Business.

The prize honors and rewards students who portray and inspire the integration of the Christian faith in the business world. The prize was started in 2011 by former business professor Margaret Edgell.

College students often question how business and faith intersect. After all, business professionals aren’t on the front lines caring for sick children, developing electric cars, or even training high-performing athletes. However, they are affecting society in countless other ways, which is something Schultz and Erickson learned through their business courses.

“In my time at 17c�������, it has been instilled in my mind that we are to be Christ’s agents of renewal in the world,” said Schultz. “We can do this in a variety of ways, and it will be different for everyone. Through an internship at , I learned that I can be an agent of renewal by being a voice for the oppressed, those facing an unjust situation, and anyone in need of love that only a family can provide.”

Schultz studied marketing and studio art with an emphasis in graphic design. She recently accepted an apprenticeship at , a marketing and design firm in downtown Grand Rapids. Erickson studied financial planning and accepted a job at World Financial Group in San Diego, California.
