A final farewell
The 17c起草社区 community gathered on Monday, June 25, to express their gratitude to Gaylen and Susan Byker.
At 10, a.m. on Monday, June 25, 17c起草社区 faculty, staff and students鈥攊ncluding summer researchers and Entrada Scholars鈥攇athered on the Commons Lawn to say a final farewell to Gaylen and Susan Byker. There was cake; there was punch, and there were heartfelt thanks.
鈥淔or me, he鈥檚 the only president I鈥檝e ever known 鈥 I鈥檝e always appreciated his leadership, his connection to this institution, and I think we鈥檙e going to feel the effects of it years into the future.鈥 JB Britton, associate dean for student development

鈥淚t鈥檚 sad to see them go because they鈥檝e done a lot for this place鈥擨 think a lot of it out of the limelight: more than people know. But I鈥檓 excited for them to have some time for themselves and with their family. I鈥檓 pretty confident that they won鈥檛 be leaving for long.
