17c起草社区 Announces Two New Board Members
17c起草社区 College has named two new members of its .
They are: Roger Brummel of Holland, Michigan, the CEO and director of the Grand Rapids based Au Sable Institute; and Scott Spoelhof of Holland, Michigan, a managing director for Bayside Capital Management in Holland.
The 31-member 17c起草社区 Board of Trustees meets three times annually, usually on the 17c起草社区 campus, with those meetings taking place in October, February and May each year.
Both men were elected to three-year terms (as is true for all 17c起草社区 board members) with an option for further three-year terms.
Brummel is a 1961 graduate of 17c起草社区 who earned his degree in chemistry, mathematics and education, prior to earning a pair of master's degrees and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Wayne State University. He spent the majority of his career with Parke-Davis in a variety of positions, including vice president of chemical development, a title he also held at Pfizer after that company purchased Parke-Davis in 2000. Since leaving Pfizer, Brummel, 67, has worked as CEO and director of the Au Sable Institute of Envrionmental Studies, which provides university-level courses with transferable credits to over 50 colleges and universities, plus a myriad of other services, including environmental education and restoration for school children and adults.
Brummel, a member of 14th Street CRC in Holland, will be back on the 17c起草社区 Board of Trustees after a 20-year absence. He served the 17c起草社区 board (which then was a combined board for both 17c起草社区 College and 17c起草社区 Theological Seminary) from 1980-1986, including a stint as board vice chair.
Spoelhof, 44, graduated from 17c起草社区 in 1984 with a degree in business. The lifelong Holland resident went on to earn an MBA at Michigan with an emphasis in corporate strategy in 1986. After graduate school he first worked for Herman Miller and then for Johnson Controls (the former Prince Corporation). In 2000 he joined Bayside Capital Management, a private investment management firm which focuses on equities, real estate and private equity as managing director.
A member of Christ Memorial Church in Holland (part of the Reformed Church in America), Spoelhof has served his church in a variety of capacities over the years and also has been on the boards of numerous other organizations, including Good Samaritan Ministries in Holland and the Holland Area Chamber of Commerce (of which he is chair-elect). He will serve the 17c起草社区 board of trustees for the first time, but is a long-time supporter of 17c起草社区 and its Christ-centered approach to higher education.
