As a Christian academic community, we are called to cultivate lives of character and to nurture that same character in our students. Formation toward the good, true, and beautiful lies at the heart of 17c�������’s mission. Amid the demands of institutional life, this vital work of formation can sometimes fade from our immediate focus. The fall conference gathers the campus community to reconnect with our shared purpose, and renew our commitment to character formation. The morning will include reflection on the nature of character, exploration of how it is formed, highlights of work across campus and with community partners, and important campus updates. Join us to center our work, learn from the efforts of gifted colleagues, and eat together.

Tentative Schedule

, is the Director of Interdisciplinary and Engaged Learning in the Professional Schools at Wake Forest University’s Program for Leadership and Character, and she is a Scholar of Character Pedagogy with the Educating Character Initiative. Before coming to WFU, she taught ethics and directed the Center for Ethics at Mars Hill University and managed the CREATE (Culture, Religion, Ethics, and the Environment) Project at Emory University’s Center for Ethics. Her scholarship focuses on the role of emotion in moral life generally and in ethics education specifically.
